Cutiemarks

All of the mane 6's cutie marks as portrayed in the show.

A cutie mark is the symbol on the quarters of a pony showing that pony's special talent. Unique to this iteration of MLP is the simplification of cutie marks in animated media. The original/unsimplified cutie mark can still be seen on the toys.

This design aspect has existed since the start of My Little Pony, originally called "rump design" and referred to by collectors as "symbols". In generation 3, the term "Cutie Mark" was coined and has since stuck with the series. Originally, the symbols were nothing more than a design aspect and had no bearing on the pony's skills or personality.
